New River Linear Trail

Whether you’re a cyclist, walker, or jogger, the New River Linear Trail is a sure fire winner. It starts in the northern part of Sun City and ends at the river. It is a 3.4-mile trek that features a few of the best views of Bluffton. Aside from the obvious sights, you’ll find a number of historic sites, as well as scenic natural areas. Despite being short on mileage, the New River Linear Trail has a lot to offer. In addition to a few miles of non-motorized travel, there are some very scenic natural areas to explore along the way. As far as trail systems go, the New River Linear Trail has nailed the trifecta of biking, hiking and running. The trail is also a great place to take your dog for a run. It is a good idea to pick up a map at the start of your journey.

The New River Linear Trail may not be the longest stretch in the town, but it’s still a nice place to walk. The trail is well-lit and the greens are a welcome respite. The best part is that you can bring your dog along, so long as you keep them on a leash. You’ll see some of the quaintest Lowcountry landscapes imaginable, including historic homes and buildings and a couple of ponds. You can even take in a show at the 1841 Historic Home, a former salt marsh plantation that now serves as a public park.
